Research Scientist

Jameela Smith is a research scientist at Activate, where she primarily conducts technical reviews of products for the U.S. Department of Education’s National Center for Education Statistics (NCES). During her undergraduate studies, she served as a teaching assistant, where she primarily focused on introductory to sociology courses. During her studies, she utilized her sociological training to conduct qualitative research focused on Black women and body image. Jameela fused her disciplinary expertise with her leadership skills while serving as the vice president of the DuBois-Diggs Sociological Society where she coordinated group discussions, service-learning events, and virtual tutoring sessions for her peers. Jameela earned a B.A. in sociology from Morgan State University.
